Around here at WebdesignerDepot, we’re always eager to add new fonts to our collection, and with the advent of fall and back-to-school season upon us, it’s a great time to grab some fresh and striking fonts to impress your fellow designers, educators, or pupils with your typographic flair.

We’ve carefully curated a list of the finest fresh fonts, both free and premium, released in the recent months for your design endeavors.

Conceived as an evolution of the Polaris Condensed typeface, Cooper Hewitt has instead emerged as an original composition. Discarding initial plans, designer Chester Jenkins embarked on a creative journey, shaping the font with modern geometric lines while taking inspiration from its predecessor’s structure.

Roboto 2014 (free)

Pairing with their updated Material Design guidelines, Google enhanced their primary font, Roboto, refining every glyph. In a detailed blog post, the font’s creator Christian Robertson explains the continuous evolution approach, sidestepping traditional naming conventions for typeface updates in favor of a fluid, ever-improving system.

Consistent system enhancement necessitates typeface adaptation, making changes while retaining the same name just as logical as the evolutions across the operating system.
