Industry behemoth Microsoft is deliberating on the possible integration of advanced AI tools into the iconic drawing application. No way, not this!
Microsoft Paint, a hallmark of computing nostalgia, has been a staple on Microsoft computers – believe it or not – for over three decades. Yes, it’s true. The utility predates the mass web adoption, it’s that venerable.
In a surprising turn, after their near-shutdown of the classic tool in 2017, Microsoft is now shifting gears. Reports from Windows Central suggest the company is toying with the idea of embedding AI technologies within Paint. The motives? They’re anyone’s guess. It’s said that the upgrade could mirror features seen in the Bing AI Image Generator.
One can only speculate what AI features might bring to the table for MS Paint: potentially empowering users with the ability to conjure AI-crafted images, then adorn them with their own whimsical doodles. Sure, adding faux facial hair to celebrities might elicit a brief chuckle.
But the pressing issue remains—why meddle with perfection? Just hear me out on this.
Granted, MS Paint is archaic. It’s technologically lagging. Yet, isn’t that its charm? Paint symbolizes unbridled creativity and childlike play, not sophisticated features or lifelike graphics expected by professional artists. It’s a token from an uncomplicated era. Wouldn’t it be better left untouched?
Maybe this is just me holding on to the nostalgia of hours spent doodling away on my family’s desktop. Yet, as I remain steadfast atop my virtual soapbox of basic graphics and earnest sentiment, I plead: Kindly spare Paint any alterations.
