When Adobe Brought Photoshop to Life at a Bus Stop

by admin

Adobe's live retouching experimentPicture yourself at a bus stop, perhaps scrolling through social media, engrossed in a digital book, or simply daydreaming. As you wait, something unusual catches your eye.

It’s an ad panel at the stop, but unlike any typical advertisement. Your image is being digitally altered and featured in it—live! Yes, right there, as part of an unexpected and creative Photoshop display.

The reactions of individuals who experienced this ranged from sheer astonishment to uncontrollable chuckles. Adobe initiated this surprising event to showcase the power of their tools during a creative promotional spree.

The venue for this remarkable occurrence was somewhere in Europe—Finland or Sweden, depending on the source. Adobe’s creative team, ensconced in a van nearby and armed with a powerful zoom lens, captured images of unsuspecting individuals. They then performed rapid Photoshop magic, incorporating these people into vibrant ads directly at the bus stop, much to their delight. This fascinating endeavor was recorded and turned into an intriguing video, which can be watched right here.

Instances of the digital artistry included a person transformed into a superhero-esque figure causing a ruckus in an urban setting, an impromptu couple appearing as if they were smooching atop a wedding cake (seemingly complete strangers!), and a solitary woman depicted riding a majestic polar bear. The artist behind these swift transformations, Erik Johansson, exhibited remarkable adeptness with the software.

The array of Creative Days, hosted by Adobe, is not just this one instance of public astonishment. These events span across Europe and South Africa, offering a series of 14 gatherings throughout May and June, all dedicated to the art of creating and expressing.

Have you participated in any of the Adobe Creative Days, or do you plan to? Were you intrigued by the Photoshop stunt at the bus stop? We’d love to hear about your experiences in the comments below.
